My partner on visiting a elderly couples farm was asked to help out by crawling into a tight spot to recover some abandoned chicken eggs.Mother hen was proudly displaying her new chicks yet hadn't laid on three unhatched eggs for two days.On being told that these eggs were very likely rotten and were going to the dog, partners caring nature clicked in an managed to save one.
Bringing this egg home she told me the story and how she believed it was unfair to this little egg just because it was slow to emerge. I told her i agreed with the farmers, if mum hadn't sat on for 2 days its unlikely it'll hatch. Being the pet lover she is she would have non of this an was going to mother this egg until it hatched,so out came the heater.
Making a nest out a scarf the egg was placed in front of the heater with encouraging words of how its mother was silly an not to worry because we and our dog will be its new family and take good care of it.
Five hours latter to the joy of partner and one confused dog ,out popped a squawking bantam chick.
Of course this isn't the end of the story, Ill put a post in later as to why this ROOSTER is named - fruit loop
