Wire
Terriers are a small sized terrier that is very energetic and
impulsive. They have bushy eyebrows and a beard and are mostly
white with black or tan patches. In most dogs, the ears fold
forward.

History...
|
|
Developed in England as a hunting terrier who drove
fox from their dens. Recently was distinguished from it relative
the Smooth Fox Terrier into separate breeds. Today it is more of a
companion but can still chase vermin.

Traits...
|
|
Extremely active dog who loves to explore.
|

Good aspects...
|
This
breed is easily adaptable to any household. They respond well to
early and firm obedience training. Also, they make a great guard
dog.

Health...
|
|
Susceptible to epilepsy. Deafness can be a problem
in all white dogs. They can also develop cataracts, skin
conditions, glaucoma and heart disease if not monitored by a
veterinary health care professional.

Be aware...
|
|
Wire Terriers are known to be barkers and diggers
who can be aggressive with food, toys or other possessions. In
general, they need extensive maintenance.
Since they are hunters, small rodent like pets are at
risk. Watch the Terrier in the presence of smaller animals.

|
Very active dog but coat requires much maintenance.
They are long lived, alive with personality and full of spunk. Fun
loving and good in any environment.
