Description... |

The large, muscular cat has
a long, flowing coat made up of dense, water repellent undercoat and
long outer coat that may be shed in summer. The eyes are large and
open, and coloured a brilliant emerald green. The hind limbs are
longer than the forelimbs. The large ears contain extensive
furnishings and are tufted at the tips. The tail should be long and
flowing. Mature cats have a full mane over the shoulders. Many coat colours and patterns are accepted.

The Norwegian Forest cat has
been bred for centuries in Norway, where it is known as the Norsk
skaukatt or skogkatt. It may have originated from longhaired breeds
from the Middle East.
