The coat is short and lies close to the body. Many colours and coat patterns are accepted. History... This is the "street cat" of Brazil, similar to the American Shorthair of North America and the British Shorthair of the United Kingdom. The breed originated from cats brought by Europeans at the time of Brazil's colonization by Portugal. Appropriate breeding is ongoing to define this breed's type and ensures it breeds true.
