Description... |
|
American Wirehairs have a
body composition identical to the American Shorthair, but have a
unique, wiry coat. This breed has a medium to large, muscular and
powerful body. The face is rounded. The coat is medium in length,
crimped and coarse over the body and with more open waves and
ringlets on the head. The coat looks and feels like lamb's wool.
Many colours and coat patterns are accepted.

Summary...
|
|
The coat requires only
weekly brushing for maintenance. If the cat is bathed, the coat
loses its curl until completely dry. The
American Wirehair is a spontaneous mutation. The coat, which is not
only springy, dense, and resilient, but also coarse and hard to the
touch, distinguishes the American Wirehair from all other breeds.
Characteristic is activity, agility, and keen interest in its
surroundings.
